Christpower (1975)

buy this on:

CHRISTPOWER is a collection of prose poems reflecting one man’s singing of the Lord’s song in a new world.  His thoughts projected here will be welcomed by the many whose own experience has led them to seek a faith attuned to the modern world, which permits no self-imposed barriers for the attainment of life’s fullness.

CHRISTPOWER is alive with thoughts, beliefs, and reasons for personal action and change of John Shelby Spong. His struggles for candor in theology, worship, and life are apparent.  He is not always satisfied with traditional or comfortable answers to the questions of human history, nor does he work from theory, imagination, or even simple optimism.  Open and direct, he uses truth to gain truth, and he speaks for many who will quickly recognize much of their own thought.
